Job Summary

JOB DETAILS
One year graduate programme
Over the course of the programme the junior executive will gain experience in policy; communications and research development and will work in all key policy areas.

The person will report to the Senior Policy Executive who will provide support and guidance throughout the programme. There will be regular meetings to review how the executive is progressing with the activities they have been assigned to identify if they require any further support.

Specific learning outcomes over the year will include:

  • Gain an understanding of the role services and function of Ibec
  • Develop lobbying and influencing skills
  • Develop policy submissions and contribute to wider Ibec campaigns
  • Develop an insight into the key issues facing Irish business and how Ibec supports business in addressing these
  • Develop business writing skills writing a range of documents depending on placement
  • Exposure to formal and informal business meetings to develop skills in organising and participating in meetings
  • Develop organisational skills through event co-ordination experience
  • Develop an understanding of the dynamics of relationship building in a business environment
This is a one year graduate programme position. The closing date for applications is the 23rd December 2025.
ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Monitor the latest developments in designated policy areas including legislative areas to assess their implications for Irish business and employers
  • Research and analysis of public policy drafting of papers policy briefings and Ibec responses
  • Engage with those who make and influence policy within government and more widely
  • Support the engagement of members with policy via organising committee and working group meetings
  • Develop opportunities for wider engagement by planning and running Ibec events
  • Contributing articles to relevant Ibec and external publications
  • Ensure that Ibecs knowledge in policy is effectively managed
  • Respond promptly and efficiently to Ibec members queries
  • Represent Ibec at conferences external meetings as experience and capability develops
  • Work with other divisional staff on cross-functional teams to ensure a holistic approach to current policy priorities
  • Support where appropriate other Ibec divisions for example liaising with and providing specialist input to sector and regional groups
  • Where appropriate contribute to cross functional projects
  • Support Ibecs communications and press office activity when required
  • Support the collation and analysis of research data; interpret survey data to utilise in publications and analytical articles

Qualifications skills and experience

Qualifications
  • Primary degree essential. High academic achievement in relevant area eg Business Policy; Economic; Social Policy
  • Additional post graduate qualifications an advantage

Knowledge and interest
  • Irish business and economic environment
  • Policy development in Ireland and at EU level
  • Current Affairs
  • Strong interest in communications
