The Waterloo Catholic District School Board serves over 38000 learners and provides services to students in 50 schools (Kindergarten to Grade 12 and adult learners) across the Waterloo Region.

General Description of Duties:
- Possesses comprehensive knowledge of the WCDSBs vision mission objectives policies and procedures effectively implementing them in all aspects of the programs. Clearly communicates these principles to team members and encourages their growth.
- Displays a thorough understanding of the purpose responsibilities and interconnections of the summer camp programs staff and their roles. Demonstrates high-level critical thinking skills when making decisions.
- Collaborate with the Program Coordinator to finalize training materials for the team and leads training sessions.
- Conducts ongoing staff training sessions and creates opportunities to enhance staff culture throughout the summer fostering a positive work environment. Regularly assess staff morale and promptly respond to their needs.
- Manages scheduling delegates responsibilities maintains timesheets guides team members in skill development and provides constructive feedback to Program Coordinators.
- Supervises summer camp programs to ensure a safe and enjoyable camp environment for all participants. Assumes responsibility for all programs and individuals at the camp.
- Provides enthusiastic facilitation of high-quality outcome-based programming that considers the needs and age groups of the participants.
- Collaborates with the Program Coordinator and Team to plan programs schedules and special events such as themed days and Unity Camp.
- Effectively manages time to ensure daily activities are delivered according to the programming schedule pre-plans for the following day/week and ensures all necessary materials are prepared.
- Submits weekly program plans and schedules to Program Coordinator.
- Plans coordinates and executes camp-wide theme days and special events.
- Demonstrates flexibility by working off-site and in various weather conditions and locations including Unity Camp.
- Assists with purchasing supplies as needed and is responsible for transporting them to assigned locations.
- Maintains a visible and engaged presence during all student activities programs and meals ensuring program outcomes are met.
- Provides exemplary support to all participants including students teacher chaperones and staff.
- Regularly meets with the Program Coordinator to assess program strengths and needs team member performance and safety concerns.
- Ensures accurate record-keeping of communications and interactions adhering to privacy policy and confidentiality standards.
- Prepares comprehensive reports on programs documenting activities and providing recommendations.
- Demonstrates and enforces a commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
- Responsible for attending all staff trainings and meetings arriving punctually and actively contributing to the development of the program staff.
- Performs other duties as requested by the Program Coordinator.
- Willingness to work flexible hours including mornings evenings weekends and holidays.
- Willingness to live on campus during our spring and summer program.
M inimum Requirements:
- 18 years of age or over.
- Eligible to work in Canada
- Criminal Reference Check with a Vulnerable Sector Screening issued no later than three (3) months preceding start date.
Desirable Assets:
- Prior experience at an outdoor day or overnight camp is preferred with a strong advantage given to those with experience in a camp leadership capacity.
- Proven experience in designing and facilitating outdoor nature-based programs for children aged 6 12 years.
- Education in outdoor recreation program development or education is advantageous.
- Exemplary organizational skills attention to detail and communication abilities.
- Must possess a deep passion for program development and delivery and possess the ability to inspire the team with this passion.
- Demonstrated aptitude in leadership and supervision along with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong leadership and communication skills showing effective collaboration with fellow Leads and Program Coordinators.
- Proficient in both independent and collaborative work environments.
- Ability to adapt to evolving program development and delivery.
- Willingness to actively contribute unique talents as a cohesive team member.
- Enthusiastic positive energetic and flexible.
- Proficiency in a second language is preferred (please include on resume).
- National Lifeguarding Certificate.
- Standard First Aid and CPR certification is a plus.
- Valid Ontario Drivers License.
Hourly Rate: $23.00 - $30.00 per hour plus vacation pay
Hours of Work :
Spring Residence Program- January 5 to April 26th 0- 10 hours a week.
Spring Residence Program- April 27th to June 6th 40 to 44 hours a week.
STEAM STEM & English ESL Camp- June 8th to July 3rd 10 to 40 hours a week
STEAM STEM & English ESL Camp- July 3rd to August 3rd 30 to 44 hours a week
