The Office of the Police Complaint Commissioner (OPCC) is welcoming Indigenous applicants to join our team. About the Role
To help advance the OPCCs commitments to reconciliation the Indigenous Initiatives Lead will work closely with senior management and staff to develop guide and implement initiatives related to:
About You
This role involves navigating complex and sensitive issues related to the civilian oversight of municipal police policing and the experiences of Indigenous Peoples in BC. The work may include exposure to challenging subject matter involving trauma conflict and diverse perspectives.
You bring strength in relationshipbuilding collaboration and cultural humility. You are comfortable working across different contexts supporting staff learning and advising leadership on issues involving Indigenous communities. You understand how to work effectively within legislative frameworks such as the Police Act to identify opportunities influence practice and guide advancements in reconciliation in ways that are both impactful and grounded in existing legislation.
In keeping with the principles of merit and recognizing the value of lived experience this hiring process is restricted to candidates who self-identify as First Nations Métis Inuit and/or Indigenous. To support this process we ask that you self-identify in the cover letter.
Work environment
This position is eligible for a hybrid work model which allows for greater flexibility. Travel will be a requirement for this position. The pace of work may involve shifting priorities and deadlines. We are committed to supporting your wellbeing providing access to guidance peer support and flexibility to help manage pressures associated with the subject matter.

This posting is for one permanent full-time position. An eligibility list for similar temporary or permanent future opportunities may be established. Financial assistance may be offered as part of the total compensation package for successful candidate(s) that must relocate to Victoria/Vancouver. Relocation allowances will be in accordance with the information here.
