The Department of Economic Security Division of Operation Support Services together are seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Supplies Warehouse Supervisor (Warehouse Supervisor). The Supplies Warehousing Supervisor supervises at the Department of Economic Security (DES) Warehouse / Distribution Center with a varied inventory of IT equipment (both capital and non-capital) for the Department and specialized equipment for the Division of Employment and Rehabilitation Services. Responsible for ensuring the State of Arizona Accounting Manual (SAAM) procedures and rules along with the Departments internal procedures are applied; develops and implements policies/procedures for the Operation Support Services (OSS) Administration for the receiving of capital equipment asset number tagging for both IT and non-IT equipment storing rotating and disbursement of IT equipment; works closely with the DES Enterprise Asset Management team Accounting IT and the Warehouse / Distribution Center teams; train and supervise subordinate team member/s to ensure policy and procedures are followed along with equipment operations and safety practices. A medical/physical evaluation is required before an appointment and the candidate must pass a post-offer physical examination.

This position is 100% in an on-site setting.

Job Duties:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Receives stocks picks packs stages prepares for pick-up shipping or delivery IT equipment and DERS special equipment. Prepares documents for the Enterprise IT Accounting DERS and Warehouse/Distribution teams.
  • Plans coordinates assigns and evaluates the work of subordinate staff. Trains subordinate staff in specialized equipment operation general stores and warehousing procedures and safety practices.
  • Develops and implements a variety of policies and procedures regarding receiving tagging capital and non-capital equipment storing rotating along with notifying the Enterprise Accounting IT and Warehouse / Distribution Center teams of IT equipment and special equipment for DERS.
  • Monitors capital and non-capital equipment inventory systems for inventory control and records the distribution of items.
  • Operates Warehouse/Distribution Center equipment: pallet jack (both electronic and non-electric) forklift and delivery vehicles.
  • Works with the Accounting team in identifying other capital equipment as defined by SAAM that needs an Asset number and distributes the tags to the Departments Administrations.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge in:

  • Strong knowledge of the inventory of IT equipment.
  • Storekeeping/warehousing/distribution center practices and procedures including shipping receiving and inventory control;
  • State Procurement Code State of AZ Accounting Manual and associated rules/regulations; principles and practices of leadership and work management principles and practices of employee training.
  • Special storage requirements for supplies/materials; delivery scheduling principles and practices; recordkeeping and report preparation procedures; and stores/warehousing safety practices and procedures.

Skilled in:

  • Oral and written communications;
  • Motivating and delegating tasks and mediating conflicts; developing standards and managing processes; and security and surveillance. supervisor skills to include the coordination of activities and
    establishment of priorities; motivational techniques.
  • Decision making and problem solving; using technology (software and databases) to control inventory produce reports and analyze information; safety management.

Ability to:

  • Organize and operate a store/warehousing facility;
  • Train subordinate staff; apply the principles and practices of leadership and work management; project materials supplies and equipment needs based on past usage and anticipated program and organizational activities;
  • Prepare reports regarding supplies/materials usage and stores/warehousing activities and establish and maintain effective work relationships.
Selective Preference(s):

The ideal candidate for this position will have:

  • Bachelors Degree in Logistics Supply Chain Management Business Administration or relevant field is preferred and one year of Warehouse/Distribution Center experience; or
  • Three or more years of Warehouse/Distribution Center supervisor/management experience; or
  • Five or more years of Warehouse/Distribution Center experience.

State employees are required to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS) the State sponsored retirement contribution plan and the Long-Term Disability (LTD) program after a 27-week waiting period.
