- Work closely with Business Units packaging vendors and Global Sourcing category managers to deliver packaging initiatives including cost savings quality improvements innovation and sustainability projects across material categories such as corrugated paperboard glass rigid plastic and plastic films.
- Develop strong working relationships throughout the company both at the corporate office and operations facilities.
- Provide technical expertise to Business Units assessing opportunities and risks and supplying information and analysis for costing feasibility and new development discussions.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver relevant packaging technical information (mockups dielines pallet patterns specs manufacturing tolerances etc.).
- Design coordinate execute and report out on packaging tests to ensure packaging meets required performance criteria (line trials new item start-ups distribution test lab tests).
- Maintain and update packaging specifications within packaging specification database.
- Provide technical sign-offs on new artwork ensuring dielines and requirements are accurate.
- Partner with Sourcing to identify and evaluate new suppliers during bids providing packaging requirements and supporting new supplier qualifications testing and onboarding.
Qualifications :
- 1-3 years of packaging development experience in a CPG environment ideally within the agriculture or food/beverage industries.
- BS in Packaging Science/Engineering Industrial Engineering or a relevant technical field.
- Subject Matter Expert (SME) in packaging materials with the ability to provide sound technical recommendations paired with a passion for learning and knowledge-sharing.
- Experience with line trials distribution testing (i.e. ISTA) and pallet pattern design (TOPS preferred or CAPE).
- Working knowledge of packaging and general manufacturing processes.
- Hands-on experience with lab-scale package testing including data analysis and interpretation.
- Strong working knowledge of 2-D and 3-D CAD tools and drawing interpretations (ArtiosCAD and Illustrator preferred).
- Proven project management skills successful in leading packaging development projects from start to finish in a cross-functional environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office especially Excel.
- Clear effective communicator with the ability to present technical information to audiences across all levels of the organization.
- Analytical and creative problem-solver with a strong ownership balanced by openness to new ideas methods and collaborative solutions.
- Ability to travel multiple times per month primarily to Californias Central Valley.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.
Pay Range: $85000-$110000 and may include a discretionary bonus. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.
