The Engineering Systems Specialist position will focus on diagnostics and root-cause analysis of durability issues captured in the Halifax DurabilityTest.This will include communication and follow-up with business-units outside of Honda Canada which will primarily include (but not limited to) R&D Design Engineers Factory Engineers Market-Quality Engineers and Parts Suppliers.Case-by-case research activity will also be the responsibility of the Engineering Systems Specialist which should be completed on an as-needed basis and may require specialized training and basic knowledge of data-logging systems and automotive forensic analysis.As a corrosion-focused facility some background knowledge of Canadian corrosion markets and corrosion fundamentals would be considered an asset.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct Automotive Forensic Analysis:Coordinatingwith drivers and technicians to deeply understand vehicle issues andcausal-parts/systems; Communicating with factories/designers to understandsystem-designdetails;
Conduct Root-Cause Analysis Coordinating with Factory/Suppliers/Designers to share parts/information to conduct cause analysis;
Durability Mode Monitoring and Refinement -Monitortest-mode accuracy and acceleration via coupons and other measurement techniques;
Test-Vehicle Inspection and Record-Keeping Perform regular scheduled thorough inspections of all test-vehicles.Maintain adata-storageformat thatfacilitatesaccess by factory and R&D members;
Facilitate and Execute Research Activity:As-needed activity based on the needs of Ohio/Japan R&D members conducting research in Canada.Ensure all tools/equipment/scheduling are available to complete successful research;
Market Research:Conductcontinuous market research relating to deicing agents weather vehicle condition for corrosion durability assurance;
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Post secondary educationUniversityDegree Mechanical/Materials/Chemical Engineering or College Diploma in Automotive Technology/Engineering preferred;
(preferred); Automotive TechniciansLicensePreferred;
2 years in an automotive related field;
Experience at an OE automaker or parts supplier;
Experience in an engineering or similar role;
Strong communicationskills (Japanese fluency would be a significant asset);
Highproficiencyin MS-Office Suite/Sharepoint/TEAMS;
Generally strongcomputer skills;
Experience with automotive data-logging equipment.
