SALARY INFORMATION
Deputy Public Administrator I - $30.97 up to $41.50 hourly
Deputy Public Administrator II - $34.38 up to $46.32 hourly

The eligible list established through this recruitment will be used to fill a current vacancy within the Orange County Public Administrator and may also be used to fill positions in similar and/or lower classifications throughout the County of Orange.

ORANGE COUNTY PUBLIC ADMINISTRATOR
TheOrange County Public Administratorprovides full-service estate administration including an in-house real estate broker property management personal property storage auction services accounting investment liquidation and dedicated legal counsel. As a part of the Orange County District Attorneys office the Public Administrator protects manages and acts as a fiduciary for decedent estates throughout the probate process for deceased residents of Orange County who at the time of their death left no identifiable person(s) qualified to be named executor/administrator of their addition heirs or family members of decedents may nominate the Public Administrator to act on their behalf to probate their loved ones estate. Once the Court appoints the Public Administrator to act the office handles a variety of functions from cleaning out the residence of decedent paying the decedents creditors contacting heirs and selling or distributing the assets of the decedent including real and personal property. County Counsel acts as the representative of the Public Administrator in court throughout the probate process.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The Deputy Public Administrator I/II is responsible for performing a wide variety of activities and services to fulfill the legal mandates of the Public Administrator. They are responsible and accountable for performing investigations related to decedent estate administration and for managing the estates of deceased persons determined by the courts to fall within the jurisdiction of the Public Administrator.

Please note: The Deputy Public Administrator I/II position is not an Attorney position nor part of the Attorney series. This position is not related to the educational Public Administration major (such as bachelors in public administration or masters in public administration).

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS AND CORE COMPETENCIES
In addition to the minimum experience and education requirements the ideal candidatewill possess a degree in Business Administration Communications Management Finance Legal Studies ora related fieldfrom an accredited college or university.Additionally the ideal candidate will possess at least two (2) yearsof experience in a similar position including Public Administrator or appointed fiduciary; a position involving hands on probate finance escrow or paralegal work; or a project management position requiring a combination of business skills finance or fiduciary decision making.

The ideal candidate will also possess the knowledge skills and abilities listed below:

Fluency and experience in utilizing Microsoft Office products including the creation and use of spreadsheets and ability to learn and use electronic tools to undertake online research or investigation when required
Exceptional judgment and common sense
Detail-oriented approach to investigative work
Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills
Superior interviewing interrogation and listening skills
Superior report writing skills
Strong research and analytical skills
Ability to speak clearly and testify in court regarding estates in litigation
Ability to draw conclusions and make appropriate decisions
Ability to apply forward thinking and creative thought with high ethical standards
Ability to maintain confidentiality
