Overview:
Seeking an experienced Software Engineer to support HHSC IT Applications Social Services initiatives. The role involves developing enhancing and maintaining web-based J2EE/Portal applications within a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) using Agile methodologies. Responsibilities include application development system analysis troubleshooting performance tuning and technical documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain enterprise-level web applications and services.
Participate in requirements analysis design coding testing and deployment.
Provide application support defect resolution and performance optimization.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and create technical documentation.
Implement contemporary testing methods and support implementation efforts.

Required Skills & Experience:

8 years in server-side/web services development on J2EE platform.
Full SDLC experience and J2EE Application Server expertise.
Strong programming skills in Java J2EE REST/SOAP HTML5 JavaScript AJAX CSS3 Bootstrap SASS Angular Typescript Spring JSON XML JWT NPM Maven OpenAPI v3 OAuth.
Experience with Postman ReadyAPI Mulesoft authentication/authorization caching strategies.
REST services development and security (JWT OAuth).
Building reusable testable modules and enterprise-level web services.

Preferred Skills:

JBoss or IBM WebSphere Agile/Scrum CI/CD containerized deployments.
Cloud-based web applications test-driven development (Karma Jasmine Selenium).

Education:
Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Systems Engineering or related field.

MINIMUM AND PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

8	Required	Hands-on experience participating in all phases of the SDLC (Systems Development Life Cycle)
8	Required	Hands-on development experience implementing applications utilizing any J2EE Application Server Authentication and Authorization Caching strategies
8	Required	Hands-on programming experience using Java J2EE REST/SOAP HTML5 JavaScript AJAX CSS3 Bootstrap SASS Angular Typescript Spring JSON XML JWT NPM Maven OpenAPI v3 OAuth Postman ReadyAPI Mulesoft and/or similar technologies.
8	Required	Experience implementing REST services supporting client-facing applications- Experience implementing REST services security using JWT OAuth and other related technologies / standards
8	Required	Experience in development of self-contained reusable and testable modules and components - Demonstrable experience developing optimizing and maintaining an enterprise-level web services including complete ownership of the services stack.
3	Preferred	Hands-on experience with JBoss or IBM WebSphere Application Server 8 or later
3	Preferred	Hands-on experience with Agile Development Methodologies (preferably Scrum)
3	Preferred	Hands-on experience with CI/CD methodologies and containerized application deployments
3	Preferred	Hands-on experience with web applications developed for Cloud platforms
