Role:
To direct the operations of theAccounting Department; prepare financial reports including operating budgets;ensure complete accurate and timely completion of financial and accountingrecords for the credit union; prepare analysis of operations for management.
Essential Functions &Responsibilities:
- Overseesthe daily operations of the department.
- Develop implement and evaluate policies and procedures for the accounting department.Ensure that policies and procedures reflect current regulations and that the accounting procedures are in strict compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Responsible for financial reporting financial analyses cash management and forecastingreports on monthly quarterly and annual basis to senior management and the Board of Directors.
- Hiresdevelops direct and evaluates employee performance within the department;recommends promotions/transfers and salary adjustments.
- Responsible for preparation of budgets and periodic examination of budget variance.
- Participate in identifying deposit and loan rates.
- Serve as the credit unions liaison with regulator agency examiners and auditors.
Performance Measurements:
ensure the department meets all deadlineswith respect to settlement activities with minimal errors and no errors thatresult in losses to the credit union.
ensure that the credit unions books andgeneral ledger accounts are always in balance and current.
maintain a highly qualified staff sufficientto meet daily accounting demands.
keep management informed regarding keyoperating issues affecting the department.
provide friendly professional and accurateservice and support to all members and associates.
complete employee performance reviews forstaff within the prescribed timeframe.
Knowledge and Skills:
Experience: Five years of similar or related experience
Education: A 4-year college degree in AccountingFinance or another related field
