Job Summary

Overview

Consider joining the Pennex family as a Bander Operator in our Wellsville PA location. The Bander Operator fastens plastic or metal bands around stacks bundles or palletized articles prior to shipment.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Counts number of articles to be banded to verify number specified on work order.
  • Unwinds plastic or metal banding material from reel wraps band around stack or bundle inserts loose end of banding material into strapping tool and cinches and crimps banding material and clamp with strapping tool to secure articles during storage or shipment.
  • Counts and records number of banded bundles.
  • Operates hydraulic jack lift or truck to move articles before or after bundling.
  • Cuts lumber or other reinforcing material and includes reinforcing material in bundle or nails lumber together to protect articles during storage or shipment.
  • Stacks bundled articles on pallet by hand.
  • Bands articles to pallet to secure articles for moving.
  • Marks or stencils size of article customers name order number address or other identifying data on visible portion of bundle or shipping ticket.
  • Maintains a neat and orderly work area including general housekeeping of the work area upon completion of a repair.
  • Assists with general housekeeping of the shipping area.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Experience

  • 1 to 2 years of experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment
  • Machine or scale operation experience preferred

Other Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers.
  • Ability to use measuring devices such as tape measures or rulers.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Flexible and driven to meet tight deadlines handle multiple projects and prioritize them appropriately
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States visa sponsorships are not available
  • Regular attendance is required

Environmental Hazards

Physical

  • The employee is regularly required to stand.
  • The employee is frequently required to walk; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit and use hands.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision and depth perception.

Work Environment

  • The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles and extreme heat.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

The range provided for each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations.
