Mainframe Operator

Cook Inlet Region Inc. also known as CIRI is one of 12 land-based Alaska Native regional corporations created pursuant to the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA). Position Overview

The Mainframe Operator provides technical support for Mainframe operations and administration system upgrades incident response service degradations outages and other service interruptions relating to the Mainframe environment. This position will investigate hardware and software problems related to the Mainframe infrastructure and perform corrective actions.

Major Activities

• Dissect complex technical scheduling situations and refocus on most business-critical tasks.
• Respond to rectify/escalate alerts as per guidelines while monitoring the queues.
• Obtain diagnostic data to assist in the investigation and resolution of incidents.
• Classify and prioritize unresolved incidents.
• Support all day-to-day security functions including problem solving error message review application and system maintenance and upgrades.
• Document maintenance for lower lever support groups.
• Perform real-time continuous onsite monitoring of all nodes of the Mainframe environment to include all services and approximately 50 applications hosted in the Mainframe system.
• Schedule and execute Mainframe jobs utilizing Government-provided automated tools.
• Process and report up to 50 job run requests per month.
• Process complete and report up to 70 batch print jobs per month.
• Report track and coordinate resolution of up to 40 Abnormal Ends (ABENDs) per month.
• Support and sustain mission specific applications running in the Mainframe environment.
• Create organizations users and roles in the system/patch management system; and manages software channels and errata.
• Support application upgrades and deployments.
• Use standard system tools to analyze and improve the performance of enterprise systems and applications running on the Mainframe for specific workloads and performance parameters.
• Create and update container images and links to containers as well as automate the management and deployment of systems in an enterprise environment.
• Implement monitoring to further enable management of application systems running on the Mainframe as well as deploy updates and patches for both Government and commercial software; detect isolate troubleshoot and resolve Mainframe issues.
• Execute break-fix actions on failed applications print jobs and batch jobs.
• Implement and support the testing of Disaster Recovery (DR) for all systems and COOP operations of those enterprise systems as designated; and support the DR/COOP testing of the Mainframe system every 90 days.
  
• Perform other duties as appropriate and as assigned.
  

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• IT technical background & mainframe programming experience
• Intermediate knowledge onall aspects of the z/OS operating system administration and support of SMPE TSO VSAM file management and JCL
• Intermediate knowledge or troubleshooting and resolving incidents with government mainframes.
• Intermediate knowledge of application support tasks like systems support security reviews and maintenance tasks.
• Intermediate knowledge performing mainframe testing

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Three or more years of mainframe Operations and Administration background in analysis and coding: COBOL (CICS) JCL CICS CA7 etc.
  
• Valid Security Certification
• Must be US citizen
• Must possess active secret security clearance or higher
• Must be able to pass pre-employment background check
