Job Summary

Across our 60 locations we provide programs in a variety of service areas including workforce development children youth families seniors and homeless prevention.

BronxWorks Afterschool offers high quality programs that have a strong balance of academics recreation enrichment and cultural activities to support and strengthen the overall development of youths. BronxWorks Afterschool aims to help young people build skills to support their academic achievement raise their confidence and cultivate their leadership skills through service learning and other civic engagement opportunities.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • One (1) Program Coordinatorto serve as the onsite supervisor of the COMPASS program with overall responsibility for program implementation including hiring of programs that serve 90 or more participants the Program Director is required to be a full-time programs serving fewer than 90 participants the position may be part-time but must be onsite during all program activities and have adequate hours to support high-quality program implementation staff recruitment and supervision and relevant administrative duties. The Program Director must have:
    • An associates degree in child development elementary education physical education recreation or a related field and two years of direct experience working with children less than 13 years of age including at least one year in a supervisory capacity in a childcare program or related field of work; or
    • A New York State Childrens Program Administrator Credential and two years of direct experience working with children less than 13 years of age including at least one year in supervisory capacity in a childcare program or related field of work; or
    • A School-Age Child Care Credential or other Office-recognized credential specific to the school-age developmental period and two years of direct experience working with children less than 13 years of age including at least one year in a supervisory capacity in a childcare program or related field of work; or
    • Two years of college with 18 Credits in the Child Development Elementary Education Physical Education Recreation or a related field; and years of direct experience working with children less than 13 years of age including at least one year in a supervisory capacity in a childcare program or related field of work.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree in social work or another related field of study.
  • A minimum of (2) years social services experience.
  • Supervisory administrative and/contract management experience required.
  • Strong oral and written communication time management and organizational skills are necessary.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other standard business technology is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Ability to stand walk or sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents.
  • Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation.
  • Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather including inclement weather if required to conduct home visits and/or field work.
