About the role Mō te tūranga:
Our Christchurch laboratory has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated Section Leader to lead our Specimen Reception team. This is a permanent full-time role of 80 hours per fortnight. Youll play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of specimen reception operations while providing leadership and support to your team.
In this role youll oversee the accurate receipt sorting and registration of all incoming specimens while maintaining high standards of customer service for both clients and internal teams. Youll work closely with your team embracing a solutions-focused approach and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily operations of the Specimen Reception team to ensure smooth and efficient workflow including receipt sorting and registration of specimens.
- Support and guide the team providing training assistance and fostering a positive collaborative workplace culture.
- Maintain high standards of client service while following laboratory protocols and quality standards to ensure sample integrity.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and help implement solutions.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and clients regarding specimen queries or issues and assist with related administrative tasks.
- Participate in the weekend roster as needed.

To be successful in this role you need to have:
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to supervise train and develop staff.
- Self-motivated disciplined and customer-focused with a commitment to high-quality service.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; works well both independently and in a team.
- Strong time management problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Professional in appearance and conduct with solid computer and keyboard skills.
- Office management skills including invoicing stocktake and consumable sales are beneficial but not essential.
- Be available to participate in the weekend roster as required.
