The Centre for Holistic Teaching and Learning is responsible for the promotion of the quality and scholarship of teaching and learning within the University and beyond. Senior Digital Media Developer / Digital Media Developer()
As a Senior Digital Media Developer you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the teaching and learning experience at Hong Kong Baptist University by integrating educational technologies and pioneering engaging interactive and immersive learning experiences. You will collaborate closely with faculty staff and students driving the development and implementation of innovative technological solutions that support educational goals.
Responsibilities:
- Technology Integration: Partner with faculty to integrate educational technology into the curriculum ensuring alignment with learning outcomes and pedagogical goals;
- Immersive Learning & Resource Development: Create and maintain instructional materials and guides to support all educational technologies. Independently design and build engaging educational content interactive objects and collaborative spaces within the Universitys metaverse platform;
- Faculty Training: Provide training and support to faculty and staff on the use of emerging educational technologies including the learning management system (LMS) EdTech tools the metaverse and generative AI (GenAI) tools;
- Project Management: Manage projects related to the implementation of educational technologies and digital tools for teaching and learning; and
- Research and Evaluation: Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in educational technology. Evaluate and recommend new tools and platforms that align with the Universitys strategic goals.
Requirements:
- A bachelors degree in a relevant field such as Educational Technology Instructional Design Digital Media or Computer Science;
- A minimum of 7 years of relevant post-qualification experience in a role combining technical development and educational support;
- Proficiency with learning management systems (e.g. Moodle Instructure Canvas) and experience supporting a range of digital learning tools;
- Proven experience with at least one real-time 3D development platform (e.g. Unity Unreal Engine) or a creator-focused metaverse platform (e.g. Spatial FrameVR Engage Roblox);
- A portfolio or collection of work samples showcasing projects in educational technology and interactive/3D design is highly preferred;
- A strong foundation in instructional design principles and the ability to apply them to diverse technological contexts;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; and
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Skills:
- Proficiency in programming or scripting relevant to 3D development (C# C) or web integration (HTML CSS JavaScript PHP MySQL); and
- Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG) and best practices for both web and immersive environments.
Candidates with less experience will be considered for the position of Digital Media Developer.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a written test.
The initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of one to two year(s). Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
