Job Summary

THE POSITION

We are seeking a talented privacy and data security attorney to join our Legal team reporting directly to our Senior Director of Privacy and Data Security. You will be an integral part of a highly collaborative team interacting closely with various stakeholders across the this role you will provide critical privacy and data security legal advice to the business including on new state privacy laws artificial intelligence commercial and service provider agreements and incident response matters.

This is a hybrid role with an expectation of three days per week in our New York City office located at One Madison Avenue in Manhattan.

In addition to the specific responsibilities outlined above employees may be required to perform other such duties as assigned by the Company. This ensures operational flexibility and allows the Company to meet evolving business needs.

THE GAME PLAN
Everyone on our team has a part to play

  • Draft and/or update privacy notices for FanDuels various products and business lines.
  • Provide legal review for privacy and data security policies and procedures.
  • Maintain up-to-date expert knowledge of privacy data protection and AI laws regulations pending legislation and market practice.
  • Provide advice to FanDuels business teams on with applicable privacy data security and AI laws and regulations.
  • Review draft and/or negotiate the privacy and data security portions of contracts with vendors and business partners in collaboration with the Commercial Legal team.
  • Review artificial intelligence projects acting as a subject matter expert in privacy cybersecurity and AI regulation. Coordinate as relevant with other stakeholders from Legal and Compliance to ensure appropriate legal review of other risks.
  • Advise on cybersecurity incident preparation and response.
  • Build close relationships with and be a trusted advisor to teams across the business.
  • Provide sound business judgment confidence a sense of ownership drive comfort making tough calls where the answer is not clear and an aptitude to quickly learn the nuances of the internet technology and media businesses.

THE STATS
What were looking for in our next teammate

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from a top tier law school.
  • You must be licensed to practice law in any U.S. jurisdiction active and in good standing with meaningful knowledge of data privacy and security issues.
  • Minimum 5 years of dedicated privacy and data security legal experience at a nationally recognized law firm and/or serving as in-house counsel at a large corporation with complex data governance needs.
  • Passion to work hard in a fast-paced and highly dynamic environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail efficient and resourceful results-oriented and well-organized.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • IAPP Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US) or any other relevant IAPP certifications.
    • Proven experience reviewing drafting and/or negotiating technology transaction agreements.
    • Experience advising on emerging technologies such as Generative AI.
    • Experience interfacing with regulators or operating in a highly regulated industry.

The applicable salary range for this position is $146000 - $182000 USD which is dependent on a variety of factors including relevant experience location business needs and market demand. This role may offer the following benefits: medical vision and dental insurance; life insurance; disability insurance; a 401(k) matching program; among other employee benefits. This role may also be eligible for short-term or long-term incentive compensation including but not limited to cash bonuses and stock program participation. This role includes paid personal time off and 14 paid company holidays. FanDuel offers paid sick time in accordance with all applicable state and federal laws.
