    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

    Required:

    • Masters degree in educational leadership or related field
    • Holding or eligible to hold a Colorado Administrative License and/or Colorado Principals License
    • Minimum three years of experience as a successful principal or three years of experience as a district-level administrator
    • Colorado Drivers License

    Preferred:

    • Doctorate in education leadership or related field
    • Experience leading and/or supervising public schools and principals
    • Experience with school turnaround work
    • Experience serving on the Superintendents Cabinet

    JOB DESCRIPTION:

    Summary/Objective:

    The assistant superintendent serves as one of two assistant superintendents for school leadership. The assistant superintendent of school leadership must have experience and skills in leading districtwide initiatives leading building and district-level administrators to advance initiatives and programs as indicated in the district strategic plan Innovation 2030 and the district Portrait of a Graduate. The assistant superintendent of school leadership should be adept at leading other leaders and programs Pre-K through post-secondary. The assistant superintendent of school leadership will lead and represent the district within the community and state. This position is one of 10 serving on the Superintendents Cabinet and must have the skills capacity confidence and discipline to work collaboratively and productively with other Cabinet members.

    Essential Functions:

    • Work collaboratively with other administrators staff and the superintendent to implement the district strategic plan Innovation2030
    • Create direction and provide leadership and vision to ensure academic achievement and school success
    • Work collaboratively with other school leadership to improve achievement close achievement gaps and prepare all students for college and career
    • Lead district-wide initiatives
    • Provide leadership coaching to principals and directors with an emphasis on quality instruction and student engagement
    • Monitor the implementation of school improvement plans
    • Support and supervise career readiness and career pathways
    • Support and supervise extracurricular and co-curricular activities
    • Support and supervise district professional development
    • Support and supervise curriculum and instructional material selection and implementation
    • Support supervisors conducting state certified RANDA evaluations
    • Support and contribute during crisis management and response
    • Oversee school and some district budget expenditures and provide principals with guidance and training on school-level budgeting and financial decision-making
    • Ensure equitable allocation of resources across schools to support academic achievement and student well-being
    • Work with district human resources and finance teams to manage and monitor hiring and staffing plans budget plans and contracts
    • Oversee various grant-funded programs and ensure compliance reporting and alignment with instructional goals
    • Supervise creation of school schedules to ensure compliance with district and state requirements
    • Ensure compliance with all student-based Board of Education policies
    • Collaborates with principals and the student enrollment office to facilitate open enrollment
    • Establish and communicate guidelines and expectations for handbooks school websites newsletters and other communications that enhance and improve communication with students and parents
    • Provide support and collaborate with community partners as needed
    • Provide information and recommendations to the superintendent and Board of Education on issues of curriculum instruction staff development technology accountability accreditation and other issues of general district concern
    • Demonstrate positive collaborative leadership and participate in collegial problem-solving in a variety of situations departments and schools emphasizing teamwork and beneficial effects on student learning
    • Serve as a liaison representing the district in various community groups and in various settings in the community and beyond as assigned by the superintendent
    • Facilitate the development of solutions both long and short term to issues and problems as needed within any department or school in the district or with groups or individuals outside the district
    • Follow through on all duties as assigned by the superintendent

    Additional Qualifications:

    • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of staff parents Board of Education Directors and the public both verbally and in writing
    • Ability to develop and sustain positive effective work relationships with staff and the public
    • Flexibility skills and capacity to work effectively both independently and on teams
    • Ability to lead and facilitate work on multiple projects at a time
    • Ability to work with various stakeholders to reach consensus on complex problems
    • Demonstrated proficiency with various forms of technology and various software platforms and Internet databases
    • Demonstrated proficiency in the understanding of high-quality instructional practices instructional and behavioral interventions early literacy multi-lingual learning special education gifted and talented advanced placement and international baccalaureate
    • Ability to communicate district goals and initiatives effectively to families and community groups
    • Knowledge of school and district improvement planning models including strategic planning school turnaround work UIP processes and accreditation expectations
