JOB TITLE:

Research Lab Aid

JOB PURPOSE:

The Research Lab Aid will assist with routine tasks organization of the lab and assist with any simple tasks for researchers in the Suyama lab.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assisting with the maintenance of chemical inventory
• Organizing lab equipment and labeling storage areas.
• Assisting with routine tasks associated with experimentation such as cleaning glassware preparing media and solutions.
• Assisting with experiments as the aids abilities and availability allow.

SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:

Other duties as assigned

COMPETENCIES:

• Ability to break up large tasks into small goals and work independently
• Some experience in working with spreadsheets
• Interest in working in a research lab
• Ability to follow safety protocols and to safely lift and carry heavy pieces of equipment
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Attention to detail and excellent work ethics

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Current UW student studying chemistry biology or related sciences.

Currently enrolled in or having had organic chemistry.
