Patient-centered care is at the heart of everything we do and the Hospital Procurement Specialist role is vital for delivering this life-changing care by working with the pharmacy team and managing the availability of stock.

As a Hospital Procurement Specialist you will be a key member of the Boots Hospital Pharmacy team supporting the operation by ensuring the right products are ordered at the right price following the NHS Hospital drug formulary.

About the role

You will work with the NHS hospital trust and procurement team to deliver an outstanding outpatient dispensing will also:
  • Be responsible for medicine management reducing waste and minimising stock loss.
  • Deliver the technical aspects of the dispensary whilst ensuring the safe supply of medicines e.g. ordering medicines labelling dispensing endorsing and collection of prescriptions.
  • Ensure that stock is sourced from the appropriate list of suppliers at the expected price; contract and non-contract.
  • Manage the ordering and receiving of stock including alternative suppliers where a product is unavailable.
  • Conduct daily stock counts and system maintenance.

What youll need to have

These are the essential skills or experience needed to succeed in this role.
  • A Medicines Counter Assistant (NVQ2) qualification or equivalent. If you have not previously completed this well support your development to complete our training within 6 months of joining us.
  • Detail-oriented with a passion for order and quality.
  • Good organisational and communication skills.
  • Comfortable and confident using technology and a variety of software systems

  • Previously managed or supervised a team
  • Experience working in a pharmacy environment
