We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Adult Acute Speech and Language Therapist (SALT) to join a well-established acute service in Sheffield. This role involves working with adults presenting with a range of speech language communication and swallowing needs within an acute hospital environment.
You will be providing high-quality assessment and intervention for patients with acquired communication and swallowing disorders including those arising from stroke neurological conditions respiratory issues dementia and complex medical conditions. Working as part of the wider multidisciplinary team you will play a vital role in supporting patients recovery and ensuring safe and effective care pathways.
This position is suited to a competent Band 6 or Band 7 clinician with experience in adult acute settings dysphagia management and multidisciplinary working.
In this role you will:
Carry out assessment diagnosis and treatment of adults with acquired communication and swallowing difficulties in an acute hospital setting.
Provide evidence-based intervention including dysphagia management and communication support.
Work collaboratively with medical nursing and therapy teams to ensure safe and coordinated patient care.
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in line with HCPC and professional standards.
Contribute to discharge planning and multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings.
Support service delivery quality improvement and continuity of care within an acute environment.
To be considered for this role you must have:
A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).
HCPC registration and eligibility for membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
Proven experience in adult acute settings including dysphagia competency.
Strong clinical reasoning and communication skills.
The ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively to MDT working.
