Lead Mechanical Engineer Power Generation Specialist

We are seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to drive technical excellence influence organizational standards and deliver world-class energy infrastructure.
This is a pivotal role for an engineer who thrives in a hands-on fast-paced environment and wants to lead the mechanical discipline for a rapidly scaling global business.
Position Summary
As the Lead Mechanical Engineer you will be the technical cornerstone of the mechanical discipline across EPC (Engineering Procurement and Construction) projects. You will manage scope schedule and budget while ensuring the highest level of quality across all deliverables. This role offers the opportunity to act as the Engineer of Record and directly influence the engineering culture of a growing organization.
Work Location: Leawood KS Compensation: Up to $150000 Bonus
Key Responsibilities
Discipline Leadership: Lead the mechanical engineering scope across the full project lifecycle ensuring alignment with budget and schedule.
Technical Design Ownership: Execute and review critical engineering deliverables including P&IDs equipment layouts 3D models piping isometrics and sizing calculations.
Third-Party Oversight: Provide rigorous mechanical engineering oversight and quality reviews for external engineering partners.
EPC Collaboration: Partner with Procurement Construction Start-Up and Operations teams to resolve RFIs manage change orders and support equipment buyouts.
Mentorship: Foster a high-performance culture by providing technical leadership and mentoring to project teams.
Code Compliance: Ensure all project work meets or exceeds industry codes (ANSI ASME NFPA) and incorporates emerging technologies.
Required Expertise
Education: Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Experience: 6 years of mechanical engineering experience within power generation fossil fuels or heavy industrial sectors.
Technical Proficiency: Strong command of engineering analysis and calculations (pipe flow equipment sizing pressure drop etc.).
Standards Knowledge: Deep familiarity with industry codes and standards (ANSI ASME NFPA).
Project Management: Proven ability to provide direction on project controls and manage multiple fast-moving projects simultaneously.
Eligibility: US work authorization is required; must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
Desired Qualifications
Professional Engineer (PE) license (Highly Preferred).
Experience in Owners Engineering or client-side roles.
Strong understanding of constructability principles procurement estimating and contract administration.
