Job Summary: The Nuclear Medicine Technician performs a variety of nuclear medicine procedures used in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. This role involves preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals operating nuclear imaging equipment ensuring radiation safety and educating patients and families on procedures. The technologist is responsible for maintaining a safe efficient Nuclear Medicine Lab and ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards. This is a full-time 40-hour/week position scheduled Monday Friday either 8 AM 4 PM or 10 AM 6 PM.
Responsibilities
Perform nuclear medicine imaging procedures in accordance with physician orders department protocols and regulatory standards.
Prepare calculate and administer radiopharmaceuticals safely and accurately.
Conduct equipment quality control checks troubleshoot issues and ensure proper function of imaging systems.
Verify patient identity review clinical history and explain procedures clearly to patients and families.
Position patients appropriately for imaging exams and monitor them throughout the procedure.
Apply radiation safety practices for patients staff and the public in accordance with NRC/DOH regulations.
Maintain accurate documentation including procedure logs dose records and patient imaging files.
Assist in maintaining a clean organized and compliant nuclear medicine environment.
Collaborate with radiologists physicians and interdisciplinary teams to support diagnostic accuracy and optimal patient care.
Participate in ongoing education and competency training to maintain skills and certifications.
Requirements
Minimum 1 year of experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist Required
Strong understanding of nuclear imaging techniques radiopharmaceutical handling and radiation safety
Excellent communication skills for educating patients and coordinating care
Ability to work independently while ensuring accuracy safety and protocol compliance
Education: Bachelors Degree Required
Certifications
ARRT Certification as a Radiologic Technologist Required
NMTCB Certification as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist Required
License: NY State licensure.
