Job Description: Responsibilities:
Operate and maintain pilot-scale manufacturing equipment
Comply with facility and asset safety rules
Participate in facility and asset safety initiatives
Effectively troubleshoot issues solve problems and take corrective actions
Contribute to evaluations conclusions and recommendations in regard to experiments and projects. Document research findings from trials/projects.
Communicate project information with appropriate people in a timely manner
Work as a member of a Research & Engineering team
Generate new workable ideas methods and concepts.
Document and update work instructions for process/operations.
Basic Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent plus 3-8 years of relevant machine operation experience (or equivalent)
Ability to trouble-shoot problems as they arise
Self-motivated with the ability to work as part of a high-performance team
Ability to adapt to frequent changes
Basic knowledge of computers Windows and Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
Mechanical aptitude (knowledge of equipment such as motors pumps valves etc.)
Good math skills including the ability to perform simple calculations when provided the necessary inputs
Good communication listening and leadership skills
A strong desire to learn new skills and technologies
Physical requirements include:
o Stand and walk 90% of shift
o Reach bend squat and climb stairs frequently during a shift
o Perform moderate lifting (up to 50 lbs) several times per shift
o Use small hand tools
o Learn to drive mobile powered equipment such as fork lift pallet mule and scissor lift
Work environment can include:
o Frequent exposure to high noise levels requiring hearing protection
o Frequent exposure to hot equipment surfaces (up to 600F)
o Occasional exposure to temperature extremes below 32F and above 90F
o Occasional exposure to equipment that may interfere with pacemakers
o Rare exposure to conditions requiring respirator PPE
Preferred Qualifications:
2-4 years post-high school technical education plus 5-10 years of relevant experience
Machine operation experience in some of the following areas is desired:
o Nonwovens
o Polymer extrusion
o Pulp and paper processing
o Working with continuous webs or materials
Equipment maintenance experience
Electrical systems knowledge
Background in material quality testing
Operations leadership experience
Research and pilot line experience
