We are hiring a Basic Grade Medical Scientist Haematology into our Hospital in Dublin Ireland.
Responsibilities
Assist in developing maintaining and enforcing laboratory procedures and best-practice operational standards.
Support the implementation of a patient-centred quality management programme including performance measurement and audits.
Perform scientific work in line with JCI and INAB accreditation standards ensuring accuracy efficiency and compliance.
Prioritise and manage high workloads including concurrent testing and participate in the on-call rota when required.
Assist with stock management equipment troubleshooting incident reporting and evaluation of new technologies or consumables.
Contribute to staff training promote clear communication and provide supervision in the absence of senior scientific staff.
Follow all health and safety policies and support the development of procedures for accident prevention and management.
Actively participate in internal and external quality assurance programmes and ensure adherence to professional codes of practice.
Support development of the laboratory information system and assist with data collection reporting and service activity analysis.
Demonstrate flexibility engage in ongoing professional development and carry out additional duties as required by laboratory management.
Requirements
Membership or eligibility for membership of the Academy of Medical Laboratory Science (AMLS) or equivalent.
Registration with CORU.
Minimum of 1 year in-service training across multiple laboratory disciplines.
Experience in Haematology.
Post-qualification experience (desirable).
Previous involvement in emergency on-call rotas (desirable).
Ability to work effectively with laboratory management and other hospital departments to support high-quality service delivery.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a professional and dedicated approach.
Adaptability to ongoing developments within the healthcare sector (desirable).
Understanding of the requirements of a modern laboratory service.
Awareness of current laboratory science techniques and methods.
Familiarity with accreditation standards and regulatory expectations.
Knowledge of relevant legislation governing quality and safety in laboratory practice.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
