Currently Hiring an experienced Support Worker for leading Charity operating across Ireland. Full Time we are open to flexible working arrangements Permanent Contract.
Responsibilities
Act as the first point of contact for service users agencies contractors and visitors ensuring a warm professional and welcoming environment.
Support the daily practical needs of service users including assistance with meal preparation laundry and maintaining their living space.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date service user records.
Provide colleagues with timely and relevant updates regarding service users.
Assist case workers in supporting service users to meet personal goals as outlined in support plans and safety/wellbeing plans (e.g. financial creative educational activities communication support).
Ensure Health & Safety standards are consistently met in line with organisational policies and procedures.
Carry out assigned cleaning duties following health and safety guidelines.
Complete and record all health wellbeing and building checks according to procedures.
Identify and report building defects in line with safety standards.
Adhere to risk assessments and maintain a safe environment for service users and staff.
Manage administrative tasks such as petty cash statistics invoices service user files OTIS updates and incident/accident reporting.
Remain alert to IT and cybersecurity risks and follow all IT security procedures.
Contribute effectively as a team member by participating in handovers meetings and core training.
Support and mentor volunteers as required.
Assist colleagues to ensure consistent and appropriate decision-making across the service.
Requirements
Level 2 qualification in a social care field (e.g. NVQ GCSEs).
At least 1 year of paid experience supporting vulnerable individuals ideally in housing outreach or similar roles.
Experience in crisis intervention and providing emotional support is desirable.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusting relationships.
Ability to remain calm professional and resilient in challenging or emergency situations.
Good written and verbal communication skills for clear documentation and communication.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to respond quickly to incidents.
Understanding of housing issues homelessness and community integration.
Knowledge of available statutory and voluntary support services.
Awareness of crisis intervention risk management and safeguarding procedures.
Understanding of Health & Safety guidelines and maintaining a safe environment.
Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities during night shifts.
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as part of a rota system.
