Job Summary

Reports To: Extended School Year Supervisors

Duty Days: Extended School Year calendar

Wage/Hour Status:Non-Exempt

Pay Grade: Based on position

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in related field (For teacher positions only)
Valid Texas certificate in appropriate area (For teacher positions only)
Effective written & verbal communication skills
CPI certification

Minimum Age Requirement: 16 years old

Ability to follow instructions (written or oral)

Ability to comprehend verbal and written English

Ability to work collaboratively with others

Demonstrate decision making and problem solving skills

Must be self-motivated accountable and dependable for the job task

Must be safety conscious and should have a conviction for any safety concerns

Ability to maintain emotional stability

Primary Purpose:

Assist other district employees with a variety of physical and mental demanding tasks. Provide excellent customer service.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Collect data on ESY goals/objectives.
Develop instructional program for eligible students to achieve mastery of the essential knowledge and skills.
Consult with campus staff & related services personal to provide an appropriate education for eligible students.
Provide appropriate behavior management techniques for eligible students.
Retain appropriate documentation of skill development and mastery and report progress.
Provide non-medical procedures such as tube feeding and other interventions as necessary for the student.
Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding students progress and needs/concerns.
Oversee the responsibilities of the paraprofessional in implementing student programs.
Provide care for students as related to hygiene toileting and nourishment.
Other duties as assigned.
Participate in-service trainings offered by Katy ISD.

Equipment Used:

Personal computer copier printer calculator laminator Smart board fax machine and adaptive equipment.

Working Conditions:

Maintain emotional control under stress. Work with frequent interruptions. Moderate lifting and carrying 15 44 pounds. Frequent standing stooping bending kneeling pushing and pulling. Move small stacks of textbooks media equipment desks and other classroom or adaptive equipment. May be required to lift and position students with physical disabilities. Control behavior through physical restraint. Assist non-ambulatory students. Exposure to biological and chemical hazards.
