Job Details:

PURPOSE

The Graduate Assistant for Student Organizations is a 20 hour a week position that supports the operations of the Student Organizations Team within the Office of the Dean of Students. This role provides broad assistance across unit functions such as student staff supervision event support managing student organization resources space reservations and general office operations. The GA works closely with student leaders campus partners and internal teams to ensure effective services adherence to institutional policies and a positive engaging student organization experience.

This position includes undergraduate student supervision administrative coordination and project-based work that contributes to the overall success of student organizations.

  • Hours to be scheduled between 8:00 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday with some prescheduled evening and weekend hours
  • Qualification for in-state tuition rates

  • Hands-on work in student personnel field providing excellent work experience

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise and support undergraduate student staff including hiring training scheduling and communication.
  • Support student organizations with event planning space reservations policy guidance and general questions.
  • Assist with office operations including managing student organization resources such as locker and office reservations Hornslink application review upkeep of the Art Center poster printing support room reservations process and other daily administrative and customer service-related tasks.
  • Help coordinate and support programs and special events with the Student Organizations team.
  • Participate in special projects committees and other assigned tasks within Student Organizations and the Office of the Dean of Students.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be a currently enrolled graduate student (taking at least 9 hours). Preference will be given to Masters and Ph.D. students in the College of Educations Program in Higher Education Leadership or other Masters students with experience working with sororities and/or fraternities.

  • Interest and knowledge in the development of services and programs that support registered student organizations individual student leaders and campus involvement.
  • Ability to utilize concepts of student development in program planning coaching and administrative duties
  • A commitment to creating an environment where connection for students is considered.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal abilities and proven organizational skills
  • Other experience/skills as relevant to specific position responsibilities

SALARY

$19.33 Hr.
