Job Summary

Overview:

Dental Hygienist with the roving school-based dental team. Travels to different school buildings in the Columbus City and Reynoldsburg school districts. Every other Friday off. School hours (roughly 7:30-4 or 8-4:30) does work over summer and school breaks.

Provides oral health care dental health education and remediable intraoral procedures to patients in the hospital clinic.

Job Description:

Essential Functions:

Examines patients teeth and gums to identify any oral health issues.
Cleans teeth by removing plaque tartar and stains.
Educates patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and provides advice on diet and lifestyle choices that can impact oral health.
Administers local anesthesia and applies cavity-preventive agents such as fluoride and sealants.
Takes and develops dental X-rays to help diagnose dental problems.
Keeps detailed patient records and maintains a clean and sterile work environment.

Education Requirement:

Graduate of an accredited dental hygiene school required.
Bachelors Degree preferred.

Licensure Requirement:

Licensed to practice in the State of Ohio required.
Passed the National Boards required.
Passed the Northeast Regional Boards required.

Certifications:

Certified in CPR required.

Skills:

Robust communication skills required.
Demonstrates ability to treat and teach healthy and medically compromised patients.
Possesses strong manual dexterity.

Experience:

Six months of relevant experience preferred.
