Mercor is seeking bilingual EnglishJapanese language experts to collaborate on a high-impact AI language evaluation project with a leading research partner. Freelancers will help assess the quality and naturalness of translations with a focus on fluency local phrasing and cultural relevance in Japanese. This is a unique opportunity to apply linguistic expertise to improve cutting-edge language technologies. The engagement is part-time and short-term with flexible hours.

2. Key Responsibilities

Review English-to-Japanese translations for fluency accuracy and local relevance

Flag unnatural phrasing and suggest culturally appropriate alternatives

Assess AI-generated outputs for quality tone and context alignment

Provide written feedback on nuanced linguistic errors or ambiguities

Maintain consistency and attention to detail across multiple review tasks

3. Ideal Qualifications

Native-level fluency in Japanese and fluent English proficiency

Strong reading speed and comprehension in both languages

Demonstrated experience with translation review or linguistic QA

High attention to detail and cultural sensitivity

Ability to work independently and meet deadlines on a flexible schedule

5. Compensation & Contract Terms

$4045/hour USD depending on experience
