Summary:

The Backend Developer will play a key role in delivering project-based solutions as part of a collaborative team. This position involves designing developing and maintaining secure scalable backend systems and Python with strong integration into Microsoft Azure services. The role supports public sector safety and justice initiatives ensuring compliance with government standards and contributing to case management and business process applications. Success in this role requires working closely with cross-functional teams to meet project milestones and deliver high-quality outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

Application Development

Design and build robust backend solutions Core and Python tailored to project specifications.
Maintain and update backend components to support ongoing project requirements.

Integration

Develop APIs and middleware for seamless Azure-based system integrations.
Coordinate integration workflows across multiple platforms and services.

Security & Compliance

Implement controls to meet public sector security and compliance standards.
Conduct reviews to ensure all backend services adhere to governance policies.
Performance Optimisation
Monitor system performance to proactively identify and resolve bottlenecks.
Optimise backend processes to consistently achieve project service level agreements.

Team Collaboration

Partner with frontend developers and architects to deliver cohesive solutions.
Work alongside DevOps engineers to streamline deployment and integration processes.
Project Delivery
Contribute to sprint planning and stand-ups to maintain alignment with project objectives.
Participate in regular project reviews to monitor progress and ensure timely delivery.

Required Skills & Experience

Mandatory:

Proven experience in backend development Core and Python.
Bachelors degree in Computer Science Software Engineering or related field.
Hands-on experience with Azure services (Function and Container Apps App Services).
Demonstrated ability to deliver as part of a project team using Agile methodologies.
Strong understanding of RESTful APIs and microservices architecture.

Desirable:

Microsoft Azure certifications (e.g. AZ-204 AZ-900).
Exposure to case management systems and business process applications.
Experience in public sector projects with safety security and justice focus.

Key Performance Indicators:

Utilisation target of 80% for direct roles
KPIs achievable for the role that follow SMART guidelines
Complete assigned tasks/projects within agreed deadlines.
Achieve less than 2% error rate in deliverables.
Ensure compliance with company standards and policies.
Complete mandatory training within set timelines.
Submit reports and documentation accurately and on time.
