The Waterloo Catholic District School Board with a student population of 38000 provides services to students in 52 schools (Kindergarten to Grade 12) across the Waterloo Region.

General Description of Duties:

The Hall Monitor is responsible for maintaining a safe respectful and academically focused school environment. This role involves active supervision of hallways washrooms cafeterias and other common areas. The Hall Monitor supports school staff in enforcing behavioural and uniform expectations de- escalating conflicts and ensuring student safety and compliance with school policies.

  • Patrol hallways and maintain a visible presence to ensure student and staff safety
  • Enforce school rules including uniform and behavioural expectations
  • Redirect students to appropriate locations such as classrooms guidance or the office
  • De-escalate conflicts and report incidents including but not limited to aggression intoxication or property damage
  • Monitor washrooms for safety cleanliness and prohibited activities such as vaping or drug use
  • Supervise the cafeteria during lunch periods and ensure cleanliness and appropriate behaviour
  • Monitor bus loading/unloading zones and enforce traffic and parking rules
  • Collaborate with administration and teaching staff regarding student behaviour and attendance
  • Support emergency drills and provide assistance during emergency response team (ERT) calls
  • Write incident reports and provide witness statements when required
Minimum Requirements:
  • Completion of secondary school. Completion of a post-secondary program related to law enforcement security or in Youth Outreach/Youth Support Worker would be an asset
  • Minimum 1-2 years experience related to the above duties
  • Previous experience in law enforcement security or in Youth Outreach/Youth Support Worker would be considered an asset
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to de-escalate conflicts and manage challenging behaviours
  • Sound judgment and ability to act independently
  • Comfort working in potentially stressful situations and maintaining confidentiality
  • Ability to maintain professionalism when interacting with students colleagues parents and community members

Hourly Rate: $29.58 to $31.08 per hour

Hours of Work: Permanent Full-time 30 hours per week

Work schedule determined by the Supervisor

Location: St. Benedict Catholic Secondary School Cambridge ON

Weeks/Year: Approx. 40 weeks/year
