Our Engineering Team
We rely on our Jetstar Engineering Team to deliver our superior safety standards up to the second. Theyre the trouble-shooters glitch-fixers and tech-experts who make sure we take to the sky safely. Solving problems. Trying new things. Getting hands-on. Fixing and double checking. Its all part of the day job as a Jetstar Engineer whether youre on the frontline as a Maintenance Engineer or in our Engineering Corporate & Support Team ensuring that we land deadlines keep projects on track and work as a team to help us transform our fleet for the better.

Your opportunity

We excited to a advise that we are now hiring a new Boeing Fleet Manager in our Engineering team.  Reporting to our Senior Fleet Engineering Manager and acting as a critical member of the Fleet Technical Management Leadership Team this role will see you leading the fleet technical management of Boeing 787 fleet ensuring its safe compliant and effective operation.  It is an exciting time to lead the Jetstar 787 fleet with the preparation for the recently announced mid-life cabin refresh program underway as well as other high profile operational performance initiatives taking shape.

As the Boeing Fleet Manager youll be responsible for:

  • Ensure airworthiness and compliance for Jetstars 787 fleet in line with CASR Part 42 and Jetstars Continuing Airworthiness Management Exposition.
  • Manage fleet health and reliability programs including configuration control defect reporting airworthiness directives and modification programs.
  • Drive operational performance and AOG recovery by partnering with internal teams and external stakeholders including Boeing and component suppliers.
  • Maintain strong governance of maintenance costs and budgets ensuring cost-effective contract management and technical issue resolution.
  • Provide transparent communication and updates across all levels of the Qantas Group including Flight Operations Safety Finance and Executive Leadership.
  • Champion innovation and process improvements to enhance fleet metrics and operational efficiency.
  • Deliver strong people leadership to the B787 Engineering Fleet Team fostering collaboration and high performance.

Key to achieving success in this role will be your ability to balance the operational daily reactive requirements of the role whilst maintaining your focus on strategic improvement opportunities and creating a performance and customer focused culture.    

About you
We are searching for an analytic process minded leader who will take the initiative to proactively identify improvement opportunities and have the confidence and stakeholder management capability to effectively engage a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.  You will bring deep technical expertise and have rounded out your engineering experience with exposure to project management and process improvement methodologies.

Youll have:

  • A LAME or Professional Engineering qualification ideally coupled with Tertiary qualifications in Engineering Management Aviation or a related field (highly regarded)
  • Sound knowledge and experience with B787 - desirable
  • Demonstrated understanding of process improvement and problem-solving methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
  • A superior customer focus capable of identifying customer needs and resolving customer issues
  • Strong negotiations skills with ability to effectively analysis and utilise insights to support decision making and improvements
  • Confidence in communicated and presenting to a range of senior stakeholders 
  • A strong track record of successfully delivering projects through applying your deep understanding of project management methodologies and techniques
  • A genuine interest in leading others and creating a high performance innovative team culture
