ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Works under the general direction of the Athletic Manager. Coordinates with the Athletic Specialists to provide officiating services to specific competitions. Provides an atmosphere of fun recreation and good sportsmanship in a safe environment. Enforces Parks & Neighborhoods Athletics policies and playing rules of individual sports to maintain an appropriate level of control fairness and player safety. Resolves disputable matters and claims to rule infractions. Attends official training clinics. Completes required paperwork/reports. Communicates with coaches participants parents/guardians and Athletics Staff.
OTHER FUNCTIONS: Performs additional functions (essential or otherwise) which may be assigned.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to communicate clearly verbally both orally and in writing. Requires the ability to traverse athletic facilities and fields and lift up to 50 pounds. Requires contact with citizens and staff.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Majority of work is performed in an athletic facility or on an athletic field which may include working in weather conditions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma. Working experience in applying playing rules for various sports.
