We have a relentless dedication to the future of safe and more sustainable flight and believe in our talented people to make it happen.The GE9X Design Engineering team is looking for experienced mechanical design engineers ready to work on the largest and most powerful commercial aircraft engine in the world the GE9X as we progress toward entry into service on Boeings 777X aircraft. Within GE9X Design Engineering the Design Staff Engineer will support efforts focused on product durability validation and entry into service preparations. At this key pre-EIS phase of the GE9X program it is critical that the team is prepared to identify and execute solutions to improve durability within the high pressure compressor (HPC). In this role you will take charge recognizing and completing validation activities owning repair substantiation efforts supporting leading indicator programs and partnering with product support engineering for implementation. It is through your efforts that the GE9X program will be well positioned for a successful entry into service.
In this role you will have some autonomy to focus on the execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. As a senior professional staff engineer on the GE9X HPC team your judgement will be paramount in the success of the desired team outcomes which will require you to have the ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters with advice from your peers.
A job at this level you will work closely with cross functional partners to develop in-depth knowledge and expertise to make technically sound decisions with some level of evidence. You will act in the capacity of an individual contributor with proven interpersonal skills execute the design analysis or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards practices procedures and product / program requirements.

- Developing specialized knowledge in their discipline. Serves as best practice/quality resource. Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area. Contributes towards strategy and policy development and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.
- Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market
- Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management manufacturing technology or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.
- Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree from an accredited university or college in Mechanical Engineering or Aeronautical Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a Mechanical Design function
Desired Characteristics
- Significant mechanical design experience
- HPC structures or airfoils design experience
- Experience with change management in a regulated industry
- Strong oral and written communication skills.

- Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
- Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects.
- Ability to document plan market and execute programs.
