Malander is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Tax Accountant based in Cape Town with extensive retail industry experience. The Tax Accountant will be responsible for managing and optimising the Groups tax compliance reporting and planning functions. This role requires a deep understanding of tax laws and regulations both domestically and internationally to ensure compliance and identify potential tax-saving opportunities. This role requires someone who is available to start immediately.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensuring compliance with indirect and direct tax legislation and changes in requirements understanding and interpreting of relevant legislation.
- Take owenership for tax related queries from management.
- Training staff on tax implications that affect their areas.
- Perform research of tax related matters affecting the Group for discussionsat the Tax Forum.
- Preparation of the company tax returns and supporting schedules accurately and timely.
- Detailed review of monthly tax account reconciliations.
- Calculating provision tax payments.
- Maintaining tax asset register in line with the relevant legislation and practice notes
- Monthly preparation of VAT and import VAT calculations reconciliations and reasonability tests.
- Keeping up to date with the new IFRS being published and determining the effect on the Group.
- Responsiblefor the preparation of selected statutory financial statements - compiling reviewing processing and liaising with auditors.
QualificationsandExperience:
- PostgraduateHonoursDegreeorPostgraduateDiplomainAccounting or Taxation.
- Retailindustryexperienceisessential.
- 2-5 years of proven experience and knowledge in the tax field.
- Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles.
- Experience in working with regulatory bodies and managing queries.
