As the nations first and NYCs largest youth mentoring organization Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York City (BBBS of NYC) connects generations of New Yorkers by matching a caring adult mentor a Big with a New York City youth a Little. Through evidence based goal-centered professionally supported programming BBBS of NYC provides consistent support and guidance to matches that result in longer stronger match relationships that advance the social-emotional development and academic progress of young people across the five boroughs.


JOB SUMMARY:

BBBS of NYCs Workplace Mentoring Group (WMG) delivers site-based after-school mentorship programs for high school age youth and corporate volunteers. BBBS of NYC matches top NYC corporations with local NYC high schools and provides each partnership with bi-weekly mentorship programs. These programs occur on-site at each company and are facilitated by a BBBS of NYC Program Manager (PM) two times per month. The Program Manager (PM) is responsible for the full management and facilitation of six programmatic partnerships.

The Program Manager is expected to use case management and group facilitation skills to cultivate lasting relationships between our corporate volunteers (Bigs) and youth participants (Littles) acting as a representative of the BBBS of NYC organization in supporting our corporate and school-based partnerships.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Recruit and onboard students & corporate volunteers:

  • Collaborate with corporate program coordinators to recruit appropriate volunteer participants prior to the start of the program based on availability disposition motivations and other factors
  • Foster relationships and collaborate with school coordinators to recruit appropriate youth participants prior to the start of program to Collect supporting information from school coordinators to determine participant motivation based on eligibility interests goals and/or acceptance for organizational services
  • Conduct and complete biopsychosocial interviews with every youth participant and volunteer candidate to understand fit for program motivations and personal history
  • Based on interview content and personal goals match youth participants and volunteers with one another
  • Work with corporate and school coordinators to effectively train and orient new participants on program expectations and logistics

Manage/facilitate biweekly programs at company:

  • Preparation for and facilitate all program functions and group activities based on designed curriculum
  • PMs are on site at the company to run and manage the flow of the program
  • PMs are trained and supported by supervisors and peers to run in-person formatted programs

Case Management and Quality Assurance Compliance:

  • Conduct monthly supervision check-ins with mentors mentees and guardians based on BBBS of America national standards and BBBS of NYC best practices
  • Maintain accurate records and electronically log all supervision contacts into BBBS of NYCs participant database within monthly timeframe
  • Provide support and coaching to Bigs working with individual Littles
  • Monitor closely for clinical and safety issues that may arise through supervision or program communication; Intervene and engage parents provide referrals to appropriate external community resources on as-needed basis
  • Ongoing contact with stakeholders (guardians school corporate partners) following up on issues or opportunities that arise in and out of program time

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1 3 years experience working with youth in a direct service or case management focused position
  • Excellent public speaking skills and experience with facilitating programming/groups for high school aged participants; understanding of post-secondary pathway programming and the unique experiences of New York City high school students strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of child safety and mandatory reporter protocols alignment with an asset-based approach to supporting young people and volunteers
  • Ability to be adaptable and flexible; must be able to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong critical thinking and situational judgement skills
  • Demonstrated experiencing building and cultivating support from cross-functional stakeholders; Ability to develop trust and rapport among youth clients and volunteers; Documented strength in meaningful relationship building management and growth.
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills
  • Commitment to BBBS of NYCs mission vision and values
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office required
  • Fluency in Spanish Mandarin Cantonese or Korean a plus!!

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

  • Salary Range: $50000 - $54000 annually
