At the Department of Labour Skills and Immigration (LSI) we are responsible for delivering effective and efficient regulatory management for the protection of the public and workers safety through education outreach inspection and enforcement equipment registration permits and licenses. The Safety Branch employees throughout Nova Scotia do this by using the Pathways to Compliance to enhance safety through setting promoting verifying and enforcing requirements under various pieces of legislation.
LSI works to provide fairness safety and prosperity for all Nova Scotians by helping them live learn and work to their highest potential. We have a staff of more than 500 employees working from offices throughout Nova Scotia. Together we are responsible for safety labour standards apprenticeship immigration and population growth and many other facets of everyday life.
The Elevator Lifts Amusements and Electrical Sections support compliance and enforcement activities under the Elevator and Lifts Act Amusement Devices Safety Act and Electrical Installation and Inspection Act and their corresponding regulations. Your work is focussed on supporting the administrative and procedural duties to ensure excellent service delivery. It is a role where you can have a positive impact working with a team to ensure technical Safety across the province.
This role reports to and provides administrative support to the Managers of Elevator Lifts Amusements and Electrical section of the Technical Safety Division. You will ensure the effective management coordination and efficient operation of the office. You are a leader on the team and we count on your expertise and excellent client services to provide various administrative support. You will work in a highly collaborative environment and will carry out the day-to-day administrative functions with minimal direction. You will act as the liaison for staff client and industry stakeholders in a confidential manner.

To be considered for this position you have completed High School plus 4 years related experience or equivalent combination of training and experience may be acceptable.
As the successful candidate you are dependable self-motivated and work well independently. You also participate fully in team environments building productive relationships with non-governmental and governmental members. You exercise professional discretion establish effective working relationships maintain confidentiality exercise tact and diplomacy and possess sound judgement. You are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment solving problems and learning new skills to complement your existing competencies. You have excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy and the ability to prioritize complex and competing requests ensuring critical deadlines are met.
You are proficient using Microsoft Office programs (Word Excel Outlook Power-Point email). You have excellent communication skills (written and verbal).

Salary Range: $1684.00- $1884.17Bi-Weekly
