Job Description

A large pension administration organization is seeking an Associate Pension Analyst to support benefit calculations pension processing and member file updates. Under the direction of the Manager Death and Disability this role is responsible for preparing basic benefit calculations processing pension benefits and refunds and updating member records when a death is reported.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Review incoming refund applications and required documentation.

  • Terminate members in the system upon notification of a death.

  • Calculate benefits and process pension benefits and refunds in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Conduct peer reviews of documentation and Eligibility and Control Reports.

  • Review disability applications and supporting documentation.

  • Perform beneficiary research and mail death benefit applications.

  • Audit returned documentation for completeness and accuracy.

  • Communicate with members and beneficiaries to obtain required documentation.

  • Evaluate and interpret legal documentation such as trusts estates and Powers of Attorney (POA) for benefit processing.

  • Adhere to plan provisions policies and procedures in workload management and benefit processing.

  • Reprint member statements upon request.

  • Assist department management and team with special projects as needed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications

  • Strong mathematical analytical and critical-thinking skills.

  • Effective time management and organizational abilities.

  • Ability to perform thorough and accurate research.

  • Excellent customer service verbal communication and written communication skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors Degree required preferably with coursework or training related to benefits administration.

  • Related experience preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and move up to five pounds occasionally.

  • Ability to sit for extended periods with some standing and repetitive physical tasks.

Work Environment

  • Professional office environment involving regular communication and use of standard office equipment such as printers copiers and telephones.
