DIRECTOR EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY PROGRAM

The Position: The Director of the Educational Opportunity Program provides overall leadership for and directs strategic implementation of programs and services for first generation economically or educationally disadvantaged students. The Director creates and implements plans for outreach and access and coordinates support services designed to enhance retention. The Director is responsible for program development planning assessment and overall policy analysis and serves as the chief fiscal manager and administrator of the department. Programs and services supervised by the Director include Summer Bridge Transfer Bridge Mini Bridge learning communities supplemental instruction and assistance with admissions registration financial aid and academic and personal counseling. The Director maintains close working relationships with academic departments the Dean of Undergraduate Studies Center for Academic Success Office of Admissions and Recruitment New Student and Family Engagement Guardian Scholars Office of the Dean of Students and Housing and Residence Life and collaborates with departments within Student Affairs and Enrollment addition the Director is responsible for all internal and external communication regarding EOP with federal state and local agencies the Chancellors Office colleges and universities as well as University Auxiliary Services Associated Students Inc. and other departments across campus.

Required Qualifications & Experience: A bachelors degree from an accredited four-year college or university in a related field. A minimum of five years of experience in higher education or a related field. Demonstrated experience supervising a team. An ability to: plan organize and direct others in the formation and implementation of programs and services; provide direction to professional and support staff; resolve conflicts and make personnel and administrative decisions; provide a high degree of professional expertise and leadership in advising and consulting with professional staff; provide professional development. Demonstrated experience in managing a cost center and budgeting and/or fiscal responsibility for a program or department. Excellent oral and written communication skills including demonstrated ability to make effective oral presentations and facilitate an open exchange of ideas. Superior interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with and respond to multiple constituencies and make meaningful connections at all levels of an organization. Ability to anticipate program needs make independent decisions exercise sound judgment and to multitask and discern priorities to meet deadlines. Ability to act decisively under stressful situations. Incumbent must demonstrate an interest or ability in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who may apply for the position.

California State University Los Angeles as part of the CSU system is a State of California Employer. As such the University requires all employees upon date of hire to reside in the State of California. As of January 1 2022 the CSU Out-of-State Employment Policy prohibits the hiring of employees to perform CSU-related work outside the state of California.

Desired Qualifications: Masters degree in higher education leadership business administration or a related field. Expertise and/or experience in working with a broad range of presenting problems and constituencies. Experience working with program assessment and outcome measures to assess service effectiveness and to promote quality improvement. Experience with grant writing.

Compensation: Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Salary range is $5053 - $16221/monthly. (Budgeted Hiring Salary Range $9500 - $10300/monthly) A comprehensive benefits package is provided.

Appointment: The Administrator II appointment will be made under the guidelines for management and supervisory employees of the California State University. All rights and benefits associated with this appointment are governed by the Management Personnel Plan.

This position is a designated position in the California State Universitys Conflict of Interest Code. The successful candidate accepting this position is required to file Conflict of Interest forms subject to the regulations of the Fair Political Practices Commission.
