Quality Staffing Inc. also doing business as Goddard Mason Executive Search a leading full-service employment agency matching qualified talent with some of the areas top companies is seeking an experienced Building Maintenance Workers to work through our agency as a contract employee with the State of Tennessee School for the Blind (TN TSB) located in Nashville TN. This is anon-site position working from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. The pay rate for this position is $23.50 per hour.

Building Maintenance Worker Job Description:

The Tennessee School for the Blind is seeking a Building Maintenance Worker to work under general supervision and be responsible for leading and participating in a variety of tasks including carpentry plumbing painting electrical masonry and general mechanical repair work.

Building Maintenance Worker Job Duties and Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Prioritizing daily tasks and activities to meet operational requirements.
Operating and utilizing a variety of tools and equipment such as assorted hand and power tools plungers sewer rodders drills skill saws and grinders.
Identifying maintenance issues in order to repair/resolve issues or reporting issues to someone who can repair/resolve them.
Inspecting devices such as electrical systems basic plumbing mechanical systems (i.e. HVAC laundry and food service equipment) removing and replacing defective parts to determine necessary repairs.
Performing routine repairs on standard work equipment.
Rewiring electrical outlets and breaker boxes.
Performing routine electrical tasks such as replacing light bulbs ballasts low voltage transformers power poles receptacles and wall switches.
Repairing windows doors flooring woodwork drywall or other parts of building structures.
Performing basic carpentry tasks such as repairing doors gates broken windows and installing bulletin boards hanging drywall building walls minor roofing repair building shelving and caulking.
Policing grounds.
Performing minor HVAC repair such as changing belts filters or motors.
Performing minor construction projects.
Performing plumbing tasks such as unstopping commodes replacing fixtures drains and repairing leaks.
Performing landscaping tasks such as planting flowers mowing sharpening mower blades and changing mower oil and oil filters.
Performing janitorial tasks such as floor buffing mopping power washing wall cleaning vent cleaning sink and mirror cleaning supply restocking and shampooing carpet.
Performing basic to extended work in welding.
Reviewing preventative maintenance plans in order to perform routine preventative maintenance to ensure equipment continues to run smoothly building systems operate efficiently and/or the physical condition of building does not deteriorate.
Performing daily walk through/inspection of facilities to ensure proper working order.
Assisting in performing inventory of work-related supplies and materials.
Providing direction and oversight to others as needed.
Reporting to supervisor the inventory of cleaning supplies repair tools or replacement parts.
Reading work orders receiving instructions from supervisors or previous shift workers to determine work requirements.
Communicating with outside vendors and customers to provide basic customer service and direct persons to appropriate solutions and answers.
May operate state issued pick-up truck golf cart watercraft or other vehicles.
Performing repair work using diagrams drawings or maintenance manuals.
Assisting supervisor in determining supplies or materials needed to perform work activities.
Moving objects such as large furniture filing cabinets cubicles chairs desks and bookshelves.
Restocking maintenance supplies.
Setting up cubicle spaces conference rooms and areas for special events.
Recording routine reports of time expended and materials used.
Using human resources software to enter time worked and leave requests.

Must possess a valid drivers license.
Experience equivalent to three (3) years of full-time increasingly skilled labor and trade work including at least two (2) years in building maintenance work.
Certification in building maintenance job skills is preferred.
Selected applicants will be required to submit to and pass a TBI/FBI background check and fingerprinting to include Tennessee and Federal criminal history checks child abuse records employment verification and professional/personal reference checks.
Please note due to the position being located at a school any discrepancies in the background check or fingerprinting report will result in the candidate being disqualified from consideration.
