POSITION: AmeriCorps & Internship Coordinator
LOCATION: Northwest Youth Corps Headquarters Eugene Oregon.
Will require 15% travel to recruitment events and project locations which may include travelling within OR WA and ID.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Year-round and full-time. AmeriCorps (AC) & Internship Coordinator is primarily an office-based position that supports AmeriCorps and Internship Programming. At times the AC & Internship Coordinator is to spend around 15% of their time traveling to recruitment events and in the field visiting members and delivering orientations. The AC & Internship Coordinator may operate under a non-traditional work week schedule depending on member support needs particularly during summer months.

Since 1984 Northwest Youth Corps (NYC) a non-profit organization has given tens of thousands of youth and young adults opportunities to learn grow and experience success. Through partnerships with conservation agencies youth and young adults gain the personal and professional skills needed to carry out a variety of stewardship projects from which they can earn a stipend high school credit and/ or an AmeriCorps educational award. More importantly these young people gain skills needed to become economically and socially self-sufficient benefit their communities as citizen stewards and recognize that they can make a positive difference. NYC also operates an accredited charter school internship program and the Idaho Conservation Corps (ICC).
POSITION SUMMARY
The AmeriCorps & Internship Coordinator works directly with the AmeriCorps Program Manager and Internship Manager; with specific concentration given to program participant recruitment/hiring and AmeriCorps grant compliance and file management. During the hiring process of AmeriCorps members the AmeriCorps & Internship Coordinator will work closely with the AmeriCorps Manager and the Member Services Team to ensure that proper background checks pre-enrollment and enrollment processes are being conducted.
Northwest Youth Corps and Idaho Conservation Corps operate an Internship Program for young adults for lengths of 3-12 months. The AmeriCorps & Internship Coordinator will assist in supporting vital administrative and tracking tasks for the Internship Program. This position requires a person with energy and organizational skills.
POSITION DETAILS
Essential Duties and Responsibilities for AmeriCorps (75%)
- Professionally represent Northwest Youth Corps while presenting at career fairs community engagements school presentations and tabling events as needed to increase interest and awareness of programming.
- Assist with onboarding of Youth and Young Adult participants and leaders while ensuring AmeriCorps grant compliance.
- Maintain consistent and open communication with Member Services team to carry out goals and
- Collaborate with AmeriCorps Program Manager to ensure AmeriCorps file compliance throughout the onboarding process including conducting background checks and timely submission of onboarding paperwork in compliance with grant provisions
- Coordinate and lead AmeriCorps orientation and exit
- Maintain AmeriCorps personnel files and relevant tracking
- Develop a strong and engaged alumni
Essential Duties and Responsibilities for Internship Department (25%)
- Administrative: Completion and tracking of essential data and paperwork within our database completion of quarterly and annual reports program production summaries collection and processing of intern timesheets and production logs program compliance for AmeriCorps interns and tracking of financial information.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with program staff to provide opportunities for high quality candidates in Internship positions.
- Recruitment & Outreach: Developing local and regional recruitment campaigns in order to generate robust applicant The AC will assist the Internship Manager as appropriate with partnership development and outreach.
- Personnel: Recruitment screening coordination and performance evaluation of interns in collaboration with This includes assisting with the onboarding orientation and support of interns assigned to them.
- Program Support: Review and improve program safety protocols training materials and webinars workflow and program systems partner outreach and recruitment.
- Travel: Conduct field visits attend outreach and recruitment events and meet with partners and interns where they are serving.
- Training: Assist in creating and facilitating webinars and engagement opportunities for interns using in-person visits remote check-ins and cohort webinars.
Diversity Equity and Inclusion Support: Promote and support organizational Diversity Equity and Inclusion initiatives. The AC will seek to identify and remove barriers to participation in NYC programs for underrepresented populations.
Risk Management: Ensure that the inherent risks of our programs are clearly articulated in marketing collateral materials telephonic communication and all pre-program engagements.
Department Supervision and collaborations
- Supervised by the AmeriCorps Program Manager and Internship Program
- Works collaboratively with the Internship Member Services and Programs Departments in ID OR and WA.
Position Qualifications & Certifications
- Must possess a valid drivers license and an acceptable drivers record as some travel will be
- Education: Post-secondary education (degree preferred) in a related field and/or experience in outdoor recreation resource management youth development or educational fields preferred.
- Substantial experience in conservation work youth programming and/or working with a land management agency will be considered in lieu of post-secondary education.
- Experience: Relevant experience in public speaking organizing community events customer service writing reporting and editing are highly desirable.
- Experience: Relevant experience in youth leadership outdoor recreation environmental education and/or natural resource management backgrounds preferred. Experience working with or for an institution of higher education and/or a land management agency is desirable.
- Skills: Applicants should have a high degree of skill in both oral and written communications. Confidence and comfort in working independently is essential to the success of this position as is skill and familiarity with Microsoft suite of applications and workplace technology in
