Survey Crew Chief
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily field operations: Manage and lead the field survey crew in conducting land surveys.
- Plan efficient data acquisition: Develop strategies for collecting survey data from primary control surveys to construction layout and as-built surveys.
- Documentation: Ensure proper documentation including work performed and field sketches.
- Daily communication: Report to the Project Surveyor and technician to keep them updated on schedules and progress.
- Client and landowner interaction: Professionally communicate with clients and landowners as needed during survey activities.
- Interpretation of drawings and specs: Read and understand construction drawings project specifications and tolerances related to the land survey.
- Reporting: Prepare daily reports time sheets and other necessary paperwork.
- Vehicle and equipment maintenance: Ensure the survey vehicle and equipment are properly maintained.
- Other tasks: Perform any additional duties assigned by the organization.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in the industry with prior experience as a crew chief preferred.
- Equipment Proficiency: Competence in operating total stations GNSS receivers data collectors and tablet PCs. Experience with Trimble equipment is a plus.
- Technical Skills: Strong computer skills and an aptitude for handling technical equipment.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as good listening abilities.
- Teamwork and Work Ethic: A proven track record of working well in teams with a strong work ethic.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to travel for extended periods work in various weather conditions walk long distances through different terrains and carry up to 80 pounds.
- Driving and Background Check: A valid drivers license and the ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
