Summary
The Security Supervisor supports the mission of The Museum of Flight by directly working with and supervising the Museums all Public Safety Officers in the day-to-day functions of the Public Safety Department. This position oversees daily public safety functions including the creation and management of weekly scheduling and daily assignments and supervisory functions including hiring training mentorship feedback coaching and performance evaluations. This position collaborates with and assists the Security and Safety Manager in developing updating and enforcing department policies and processes regarding security and safety.

- Supervise direct and evaluate all work activities of Public Safety Officers to promote a culture of safety security and ensure consistent enforcement of safety and security policies across the Museum campus programs and events. This may include use of Museum vehicles for response and patrol.
- Manage hiring staff orientation training scheduling task assignments and ongoing development; mentor staff and deliver timely feedback coaching recognition and performance evaluations.
- Ensure adequate department coverage based on visitor attendance events staff training meetings shift debriefs reporting and administrative needs.
- Oversee accurate and timely incident reporting and records; collaborate with Museum leadership and People Operations on internal investigations when appropriate.
- Collaborate with appropriate team members to develop and facilitate training curriculum and content and to set objectives and goals.
- Assist in developing maintaining and revising security and safety policies processes support systems and procedures to ensure continuous improvement within the Public Safety team and broader Museum community.
- Support emergency preparedness drills response plans and real-time incident management including medical emergencies fire natural disasters and security threats.
- Manage access control systems surveillance monitoring and physical security measures.
- Facilitate communication and cooperation with local law enforcement fire departments airport security and other relevant agencies when appropriate.
- Support cross-departmental initiatives including not limited to Education Events and Collections to meet safety and security needs during programming and operations.
- Maintain professional use and oversight of communication tools such as radios PA systems and incident reporting software.
- Assume the role of Public Safety Officer when necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in security public safety or related fields with at least three (3)years in a supervisory or leadership role.
Minimum one (1) year of experience in a customer service environment. Preferably in a museum educational facility stadium or amusement park.
Demonstrated experience in developing teams emergency response incident management and staff training.
Knowledge
Skills
Excellent attention to detail and situational awareness.
Effective communication skills across multiple channels (email phone radio PA system face-to-face).
Proficient Microsoft Office 365 environment.
Abilities
Strong customer service focus with the ability to work comfortably with diverse populations.
Ability to stay calm and maintain professionalism in fast-paced or high-pressure situations.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion in all safety and security matters.
Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize tasks independently.
License & Certification
American Heart Association CPR/AED and First Aid certification for Adult Child and Infant or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire through The Museum of Flight (provided at no charge).
Ability to obtain security credentials for King County International Airport and Paine Field.
Current Drivers License with an acceptable driving record.

- The Museum of Flight Public Safety Department operates 24/7/365 with day swing and night shifts both indoor and outdoor including during periods of inclement weather. Flexibility to work any shift including holidays and adjusted or irregular hours is required.
- Schedule is set by manager and includes weekends.
- Must remain on campus for the entire shift including meal periods.
- High level of public contact.
- Some local travel is expected for this position.
