Plans directs and monitors all production activities within assigned area(s) to maximise the use of business resources and meet established overall production KPIs including volume cost safety and quality measures. Operations are of mid-high level complexity (e.g. multiple shifts/lines/products). Works independently within operational plans and policies; gives work instructions to and plans work for others.
Location: West Whiteland PA
The Production Manager is responsible for achieving and improving Safety Quality Cost and Operations targets in line with KPIs across all production areas. This role has the responsibility for leading & engaging shift-based teams.
Note: this is a site based role with no remote work possibility.
Principal accountabilities
- Ensures all relevant production activities for the relevant areas are undertaken in full alignment with the agreed EHS/security policies procedures and standards to minimize any potential risks/hazards
- Promote and improve EHS awareness and reduce EHS risks within the team/area/project ensuring activities are managed and undertaken safely. Supporting and participating in EHS good practice and initiatives across the business and leading by example
- Build lead and develop a high performing and engaged team ensuring resource allocation is deployed effectively to optimize delivery of results
- Coach mentor and develop the team including succession planning the delivery of constructive performance feedback and the timely completion of annual reviews.
- Ensure a right first-time culture is delivered and ensure customer complaints are avoided as much as possible. Where customer complaints do occur ensure a rapid and thorough response.
- Delivers production targets set within the production plan on time to cost & quality safely.
- Ensures all production areas achieve or exceed quality standards defined by our customers.
- Investigates non-conformances and embeds lessons learnt to drive quality improvements
- Embeds a culture of continuous improvement ensuring all teams continually strive to improve performance standards & processes driving efficiencies. Identifies & implements best practice principles.
- Plans prioritizes and manages production areas maintenance and down times to minimize disruptions to manufacturing schedules
- Implement monitor & review training & development strategy and support learning & development.
- To take on any other duties which are within the employees skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed.
Qualifications:
- 5-10 yrs experience in manufacturing for a multi-site organization leading people in a union environment or 5 years of experience in a chemical or metals manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated experience in effective leadership with ability to coach develop and engage individuals and teams.
- Demonstrated understanding of general EHS management principles
- Experience and/or degree in a relevant discipline e.g. engineering metallurgy
- Demonstrated experience of the application of problem solving/RCA techniques
- Experience working within ISO 9001 / ISO 14001 / ISO 45001 standards
