Summer Program Theater Director
Responsible for overseeing all aspects of the summer theater program including curriculum planning staff supervision budget management and program execution. Key duties include developing and teaching theater lessons directing rehearsals and final productions managing daily logistics and ensuring a safe and positive environment for participants and staff. This role requires strong leadership creativity problem-solving skills and experience in both theater and working with young people.
Key responsibilities
- Program and curriculum:Plan coordinate and oversee all classes performances and programs. Ensure the curriculum is age-appropriate and aligns with the organizations goals.
- Instruction:Teach theater lessons lead games and direct rehearsals and final productions.
- Staff management:Supervise and evaluate instructors staff and interns providing guidance and feedback. Lead staff meetings.
- Student supervision:Oversee students and maintaining a positive learning environment and addressing any disciplinary issues.
- Budget and administration:Manage budget handle supply ordering and assist with administrative tasks related to the program.
- Production:Facilitate auditions create lesson and rehearsal plans and manage production needs for the final show.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in theater performance and directing.
- Experience working with children and young people in an educational setting is essential.
- Strong leadership communication and problem-solving skills are necessary.
- Knowledge of theater-based curricula is preferred.
- An undergraduate degree in theater or education is often preferred but not always required.
Stipend: Up to $1800 depending upon enrollment
