Experience:
Minimum 14 years engineering experience
At least 8 years in a contracting/design house environment
Experience in energy refining petrochemical or chemical industries
Lead Engineer experience on at least 3 large projects
Commissioning and plant start-up participation
Experience with distillation processes essential
Responsibilities - Functional
Leads the development of design basis PFDs P&IDs and engineering deliverables
Validates all major process deliverables
Supports design reviews HAZOP SIL and client workshops
Ensures compliance with engineering standards safety requirements and project specifications
Commitment & Authorisations
Authorised to approve process documents within project scope
Authorised to coordinate with licensors vendors and technology providers
Authorised to issue technical bid evaluations and design philosophies
Objectives of the function
Deliver robust safe and efficient process designs across all project phases
Ensure effective integration of process engineering with all other disciplines
Support commissioning and plant start-up activities
Mentor and develop junior engineers
Mission and tasks
Lead process engineering work across feasibility concept basic and detail stages
Develop PFDs P&IDs mass and energy balances UFDs and MFDs
Perform process simulations using ASPEN / PRO-II
Perform unit operation sizing (pumps heat exchangers columns reboilers and valves)
Conduct hydraulic calculations with AFT tools
Develop process philosophies safety philosophies operating and commissioning manuals
Perform relief load calculations and fire protection calculations
Prepare equipment and instrument datasheets
Perform hazardous area classifications and material selection tables
Conduct 3D model reviews and plant layout assessments
Lead vendor documentation reviews and technical bid evaluations
Support commissioning and plant start-up
Skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Advanced Aspen HYSYS / Aspen Plus modelling capability
Strong understanding of chemical engineering fundamentals
Knowledge of safety-related design (SIS SIL relief systems)
Expertise in distillation heat exchange separation and utilities
Knowledge of international engineering standards and best practices
Strong communication and client engagement skills
Experience leading cross-disciplinary engineering and project interfaces
Prerequisites
Ability to interpret engineering drawings process diagrams and standards
Familiarity with EPC/EPCM project environments
Knowledge of hazardous area classification
