This is an unpaid preceptorship. APPLICATION DEADLINE: January 31 2026
Opportunity time frame:
Approximately 120-180 hours per preceptorship starting in May- August. The start date is flexible.
Eligibility requirements:
Current Student of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program
Masters or doctoral level student
Student must be enrolled at an academic Institution that has an existing contract/affiliation agreement with Sheppard Pratt.
Students applying to this rotation must be a license nurse (BSN) and have psychiatric nursing experience.
Learning model:
Nurse Practitioner/DNP is part of the continuum of care and collaborates with the multidisciplinary team. Supervision is provided in a 1:1 supervision model by an assigned licensed Nurse practitioner or physician. No telehealth preceptorship is strictly in person.
Student expectations:
Student expectations include learning 1:1 from a licensed NP or physician. Readiness to learn from all experiences and patient population. Patience and compassion when working with this challenging patient population. The preceptorship allows students the opportunity to be in the community where they will work with a professional in the same field.
