Salary: $57416 annually (entry level)

About the Role
The Communication Teacher/SLP Assistant supports students by delivering communication lessons collaborating with teachers and speech-language pathologists and helping develop and implement communication objectives that foster independence and success.
Key Responsibilities
Lead group communication lessons for assigned classrooms
Assist the Speech-Language Pathologist with social skills groups as needed
Collaborate with teachers and the SLP to develop IEP communication goals and individual student objectives
Support the implementation of communication strategies throughout the school day
Help design and maintain visual supports for classroom and residential environments
Participate in Daily Life Therapy activities including lunch support daily routines and transitions
Take part in all student activities that require physical engagement including walking jogging up to three miles per day standing lifting squatting and hands-on support
Maintain positive professional and confidential communication with parents colleagues and all individuals supporting students
Attend division meetings IEP meetings and weekly communication meetings
Complete additional duties as assigned by program leadership
Qualifications
Experience working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder preferred
Bachelors degree in Communication Disorders Special Education or a related field preferred
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work effectively in a multicultural collaborative environment
Comfort working in an active school environment that includes physical participation
