Position Overview

Promesa Academy is seeking a caring reliable and student-centered Teacher Aide to support our K5 classrooms. The Teacher Aide plays a vital role in ensuring that every student receives the individualized attention encouragement and support they need to thrive academically and socially. Working closely with classroom teachers the Teacher Aide helps create a warm structured and engaging learning environment that reflects Promesas values and instructional vision.

Key Responsibilities

Support classroom teachers in delivering high-quality standards-aligned instruction across content areas.

Work with small groups or individual students to reinforce learning pre-teach or re-teach concepts and provide targeted academic support.

Help maintain a joyful student-centered learning environment through positive behavior reinforcement and proactive classroom management.

Prepare instructional materials organize classroom resources and assist with hands-on activities and centers.

Supervise students during transitions lunch recess arrival dismissal field trips and other school activities to ensure safety and wellbeing.

Support data collection by monitoring student progress and communicating observations to the teacher.

Assist in implementing accommodations and modifications to meet diverse learning needs including students receiving special education services.

Foster strong relationships with students built on respect empathy and high expectations.

Collaborate with teachers and staff to support school-wide systems routines and culture.

Participate in professional development coaching and training sessions to grow in the role and strengthen instructional practices.

Qualifications

Required:

High school diploma or equivalent

Passion for working with children and supporting their growth

Strong communication teamwork and interpersonal skills

Commitment to maintaining a positive inclusive and student-centered classroom environment

Preferred:

Prior experience working with elementary students in a school or youth setting

Familiarity with classroom instructional routines small-group support or behavior management strategies

Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills
