This position will work with theSatellite Training unit to research and develop scientific weather satellite training materials that translate advanced scientific concepts into accessible communication for academic and technical audiences. The end-use stake holders could include academic government commercial and non-profit audiences. The position requires the ability to work creatively independently and as part of a team.
The candidate must have effective writing and communication skills and is expected to pursue collaborations with experts nationally and internationally. The candidate is also expected to contribute to professional journal articles assist in proposal preparation and to make technical presentations at national and international scientific meetings.
This position would have strong communication and science exchange connections between UW-Madison SSEC/CIMSS and the NOAA National Environmental Satellite Data Information Service (NESDIS) line office and NOAA Cooperative Institute for Satellite Earth System Studies (CISESS) located at the University of Maryland campus to include on-site location accommodations. This positions headquarter location will be at the University of Maryland 8229 Baltimore Ave College Park MD.

Understanding of global weather model efforts such as the Next Generation Global Prediction System (NGGPS) and Unified Forecast System (UFS)
Able to coordinate and construct team science proposal for submission to Federal Agencies (NOAA/NASA)
Experience in training meteorologists in the use of meteorological satellite information for weather decision support
Familiarity with NOAA National Weather Service Office of Science and Technology Integration (OSTI) and NASA research communities and leadership
