Job Summary

Job Goal: The Randolph Public Schools Assistant Superintendent is a member of the Superintendents Central Office leadership team who seeks to develop leaders builds a culture of trust creates a positive atmosphere based on clear and aligned communication shares in decision making and has a powerful vision of continuous Duties and Responsibilities: Assist the Superintendent in Supervising and Evaluating School Principals and Curriculum/Program Directors by:Evaluating Principals as the Primary Evaluator as assigned by Superintendent per the MA DESE Educator Evaluation modelEnsuring that clear standards and frameworks for evaluation are implemented Observing and interacting with Principals and DirectorsProviding input for evaluation and feedback Developing leadership objectives of schools based on performance and site-based satisfaction Working with Principals to establish an action plan that will assist school leaders in meeting their instructional leadership objectives and schools to meet performance targets Working to ensure that staff are culturally competent and diverse Assist the Superintendent in Supporting School Principals and Curriculum/Program Leaders by:Assisting with the development of School Improvement Plans Reviewing monitoring and auditing school targets Ensuring that schools execute system initiatives with fidelity Conducting gap analysis/needs assessments against school-based targets Building instructional leadership with particular focus on instruction data analysis intervention and developing educator capacity Assisting with the development of action plans that improve student achievement; Collaborating with departments to provide the appropriate system resources that address the needs of schools Frequently visiting schools and interacting with school leadership to understand school needs Planning and leading differentiated professional learning experiences for educators and leadersProviding support and guidance for school staffing and budgeting Participating in Class Size Reviews to determine appropriate staffing levels Providing support around the enrollment project process that drives school-based budgets Creating a culture of inquiry and mutual accountability among the PrincipalsAssist the Superintendent with Curriculum development by: Insuring continuity and coherence of curriculum PreK-12 Providing long-range planning for the evaluation selection review and analysis of curriculum and instruction through a curriculum review cycle Directing program evaluation and create staff development programs or a curriculum task force as needed Informing and directing the process of curriculum development from inception to acceptance by the School Committee Coordinating the writing and distribution of learning expectations curriculum guides and other publications to inform the school community of changes in curriculum and instruction Fostering innovationAssist the Superintendent with Curriculum implementation and instruction by:Overseeing assisting and coordinating the efforts of the Principals Program Directors and Coordinators to improve instruction through meetings and programs of in-service trainingAssuring compliance with the curriculum inquiry procedures and curriculum development processWorking together with the Principals Program Directors and Coordinators develop and recommend long term comprehensive assessment procedures that address the needs of all studentsAdministrative Duties include:Participating as a member of the Superintendents Cabinet which functions as a leadership body of the Randolph School SystemAssisting the Superintendent in formulating policy and making decisions regarding system-wide planning finance curriculum long-range plans setting goals for the system and labor/employee relations issuesDisseminating information on the educational program to parent groups local organizations and other systems through discussion groups public addresses and publicationsConsulting with parents staff School Committee members and interested citizens regarding issues relating to the curriculumAttending School Committee meetings and in consultation with directors and coordinators present an annual series of curriculum meetings to explain the educational program to the Committee and general publicParticipating on the Randolph Public Schools Administrative CouncilCollaborate with other administrators personnel and outside organizations to coordinate activities and programs resolve issues and conflicts exchange information and assure school safety and security; confer with law enforcement probation and truancy officers regarding student behavior; serve as a liaison between the District outside agencies and the communityOther tasks as assigned by the SuperintendentOther Duties may include but are not limited to:Assisting with the recruitment interviewing selection and matching of outstanding principals for the district Assisting in the refinement of Principal Leadership Standards evaluation tools and professional growth opportunities Assisting the Superintendent by serving as a senior ambassador or representative of RPS leadership at public events community meetings and other gatherings of RPS stakeholders Working with the Director of Family and Community Engagement to assist in building partnerships with families and the community that support student learning Working with the Director of Family and Community Engagement to assist in resolving student registration issues that arise including but not limited to truancy and residencyActing as the Superintendents designee as assigned for student and staff discipline appeals and hearingsOversee the Home Schooling process for RandolphTerms of Employment: 12-month Administrative position individual contractReports to: Superintendent of Schools
